Firenze!

Off to Florence first thing and found our B&B -- A Casa di Olivo. Simply lovely. Dropped our bags and headed for the rail station to go to town. Wandered about just taking in the sights and the city. Stopped at an outdoor ristorante and had the best meal yet! Three courses, all delicious. Checked out where the Accademia and the Uffizi were so we'd be ready for our tours. Walked through piazzas, churches, shops, and it was Char's turn to squeal! There was an old-fashioned merry-go-round (which of course we rode) and that made Char's day! The Duomo -- where to begin! So massive yet beautiful. Hard to take it all in! The David was unbelievable! Pictures do not do him justice! Looking into those eyes -- yum! The sheer number of statues, pieces of art, busts, churches, and piazzas makes your head spin. Not sure you could ever have enough time to see it all, and we only had two days. Arrived back at the Carpediem Roma a bit tired and ready for sleep. Hop On/Hop Off in Rome is next followed by a day at the Vatican and the Colosseum Dungeons by night. Stay tuned. Ciao!
