Man Down! Man Down!

Our train ride into Venice was delayed due to a man laying on the tracks! It took about 15 minutes (almost 20) to get him off the tracks and get us underway. People were on their way to work, and they were madly sending messages and making calls about being late. Still got to Venice in time for the #3 Vaporetto which took us to Murano (for a few purchases!) and then Burano. What a bouquet of color! Every house is a different vibrant color from its neighbor, and the entrances are all personalized with a curtain outside the door, or some kind of fanciful decoration. The lace museum -- wow! We watched two ladies (one in her late 80s, the other already made it to the 90s) creating masterpieces of lace before our very eyes. One had trained at the school we were in and her picture from those days is a part of the museum. History and artifacts could have enthralled us all day long, but we had other delights to see and places to go -- namely, a vaporetto back to Venice. Said a sad goodbye to a lovely city that has stolen our hearts. Given the chance, we'd come back in a heartbeat! Rabbit, rabbit! Yes, we've tried many Italian dishes, but tonight, we tried braised rabbit! Yum! It had a lovely light sauce over the top and it was fabulous. Pistacchio and carmel gelato were our choices today. Haven't found a bad one yet! Ciao!
